The Man The Musician

Chris Weber built his FIRST Mandolin in 1993, thus beginning a journey that
would see him become a professional luthier and owner of CW Stringworks in
January of 2004. His 28 years of woodworking experience and a lifetime of
pickin' and grinnin' have proven to be a dynamic duo, indeed. This union of
technical skills and passion for music has allowed Chris to meet the needs
of instrument and musician alike.

With a builder's eye, Chris can quickly analyze any problem an instrument
might have. As a player, he is not satisfied until he has an instrument
properly set up and playing at its best. Many CUSTOMERS of CW Stringworks
have expressed an appreciation of the candor and attention to detail that
Chris exhibits.

Chris has continued building MANDOLINS, finishing his ninth
one in 2007. He has let his imagination run wild and had a bit of fun
building a few NOVELTY GUITARS. Always up for a challenge and able to
"think outside the box", Chris has done many INNOVATIVE REPAIRS and
ALTERATIONS to stringed instruments.

The Music
As a solo performer, Chris likes intimate venues. Coffee houses, art
museums and weddings are among his favorites, but he enjoys playing
festivals, too. He plays a lot of fingerstyle guitar, revealing folk,
blues, jazz, ragtime and country influences. A healthy sense of humor runs
through much of his original material.

His most recent recordings are WORD JUNKIE 2003 and THE GREATEST GIFTS
2006. Both are available at his shop in Moose Jaw

Chris also performs with his wife, Marianne. She plays flute and tin
whistle. Their repertoire contains many movie theme songs, Broadway show
tunes and Celtic airs. They can be affordably booked for many types of
small events.

As a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Chris has been performing with
Regina band, CROFTER'S REVENGE. A fan of this great Celtic band for many
years, Chris was thrilled to be invited to join them in 2006. They have
shown much appreciation for his contributions on electric and acoustic
guitar as well as mandolin and 5 string banjo. Chris has also written two
NEW SONGS (
John Rae and Farewell to Clifford) specifically for the band and is excited to hear how they have
brought them to life.
